I went to boot camp at St. Augustine, Florida.
I was then sent to Miami, Florida, receiving
station, December ‘42 to April ’43. Then
stationed at Pompano, Florida, April to Sept. 1943.
Then assigned to sea duty on the USS Lansing,
DE 388 for convoy duty to escort merchant ships
to European ports. I was on the ship until the war
ended. I made 10 round trips to European ports.
