I was inducted into the service November 1942 and reported to Camp Atterbury for processing. From there went to basic training at St. Petersburg, Florida; then reported for Tech School at Chaunte Field, Illinois, for pilot training in the Air Force, but flunked the colorblind test, so I was shipped to Kelly Field at San Antonio, Texas.
From there went overseas to Naples, Italy, for 1 ½ years and worked as a dispatcher. Came back from overseas to go to Japan, but the war ended so was discharged from Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1945.
