I entered the Navy on April 14, 1944 upon graduation from High School. I was sent to Camp Parks, CA and put in the 26th Battalion. On July 1, 1944 we sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge for Kodiak, Alaska. We arrived July 7, and were sent to Cold Bay, Alaska in October. It was our duty to train Russian sailors to take over American frigates to use in an attack on Sipan invading from the North.
I returned to Seattle for discharge on May 23, 1946.
