“I was very proud to serve my country as a member of the armed forces in Vietnam.   My reception by the community upon my return left me confused and hurt.   I learned very quickly not to talk about my involvement in America’s ‘conflict’ in Vietnam.   Thankfully, that has changed and our armed forces are again treated with respect.

 

My love for the U. S. is displayed full time on my lawn.   The Flag!  On Veteran’s Day every year I have a private personal ceremony in which I destroy (with respect) all worn, faded, or torn flags that I collect through the year.   It has been a great mental and emotional healer for me.”
