BIRELEY, G. MARIE

 

Huntertown --  G. Marie Bireley, 93, a resident of Huntertown and widow of Samuel E. Bireley, died at 7:12 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne following a lengthy illness. 

 

Mrs. Bierley was born in DeKalb County on april 11, 1911, a daughter of Charles and Goldie Meese Pepple and moved to Huntertown as a child with her parents.  She graduated from Huntertown High School in 1930, and was a lifelong resident of Huntertown.

 

She had been employed for 28 years at the institutional power plant at the former Irene Byron Sanitarium in Fort Wayne, and retired as a clerk at Tepe’s in Fort Wayne in 1986 after 12 years. 

 

She was an 82-year member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church.

 

Surviving are two grandsons:

            Brent E. (fiancee’ Marcia King) Preston of Fort Wayne

            Stephen R. (Sandy) Preston of Olathe, Kansas

 

Mr. Bireley preceded her in death in 1974.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter,

            Rozanne Sue Preston in 2001

            By two sisters, Ruby I. McDougall and Rowene Warner

            By two brothers, Wilbur and Walter Pepple

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. John Randall, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church in Hoagland officiating.  Calling will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery in Fort Wayne.  Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
