BOBAY,  MARY

 

Fort Wayne – MARY A. BOBAY, 91, a resident of rural Fort Wayne, and widow of GEORGE F. BOBAY, died at 6:55 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007, at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne.   She had been in declining health for some time, and had been a patient at the hospital for the past two years. 

 

Mrs. Bobay was born in Payne, Ohio, a daughter of JOHN E. and ROSE C. (SCHAEFER) RYAN, and moved to Allen County as a child with her parents.

 

On July 29, 1939, she was married in Fort Wayne to GEORGE F. BOBAY, and spent all of her adult life in the Huntertown area.   She was a homemaker, was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, and the church’s Rosary Sodality.

 

Mr. Bobay preceded her in death in 1980.

 

Surviving are four children:

            ROSE MARIE MUNSON of Huntertown

            JOHN J. (LOUISE) BOBAY of Churubusco

            GERALD “JERRY” BOBAY of Fort Wayne

            KATHLEEN PAUL of Churubusco

A brother:

            EDWARD RYAN of Huntertown

Four sisters:

            RUTH SCHAEFER of Huntington

            MARGARET HOOT  of Huntertown

            LIOBA (LELAND BUCK) RICHARDSON of Fort Wayne

            THERESA (CHARLES) GABET of New Haven

23 grandchildren

42 great-grandchildren

3 great-great-grandchildren

Numerous nieces and nephews

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers:

JOSEPH RYAN, BILL RYAN, JOHN RYAN and PAUL RYAN

 

Two brothers-in-law:  FRED SCHAEFER and WYONALD “ONIE” HOOT

One sister-in-law:  JEAN RYAN

 

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church with Father John Kuzmich, the celebrant.

 

Interment was in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.   Sheets and Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco was in charge of the arrangements.  Memorials may be directed for Masses or to Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
