PIONEER FARMER DIES AFTER FOUR DAYS ILLNESS
FRANK C. MARTIN, 64 years old, a prominent farmer of Perry township, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at 3 o’clock yesterday morning, after an illness of onl7y 4 days duration. Friday afternoon the decedent had underwent an operation for obstruction of the bowels.
Mr. Martin was born and reared in Perry township and had resided in Allen County his entire life.

MRS. LOUISE A. (URBINE) MARTIN 69, of Perry Township, died yesterday morning at 10:20 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Hospital, following an illness of complications. She was the widow of FRANK C. MARTIN and was a lifelong resident of Allen County. Mrs. Martin was a member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Adlor P. Carl, 67, 353 W. Woodland St., well-known retired city fireman, died at 4:05 p.m. yesterday in St. Joseph’s Hospital where he had been a patient the past two weeks. A native of Illinois, he had been a resident of this city 40 years and had been a fire-fighter for 35 years until his retirement 2 years ago. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and belonged to the Holy Name Society of that church.

SUMNER “PAUL” MOMMER, 64, died Thursday at home. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Mr. Mommer retired in 1980 after 34 years in the forge shop of International Harvester. PIONEER FAMILY MEMBER SUCCUMBS SUDDENLY TO INDIGESTION
MRS. LOUISE MARTIN lAURENT, aged 60, 1404 Spy Run Ave., died suddenly of acute indigestion at 6:40 a.m. today at her residence after an illness of two hours. Mrs. Laurent, who was well-known in this city, was in the best of health until stricken early today with the indigestion. She attended a party Wednesday night. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception; was president of the Rosary Society of the Cathedral; was a member of the Fort Wayne Woman’s Club, Daughters of Isabella and St. Margaret’s Missionary Society.
Mrs. Laurent was the daughter of MR. AND MRS. AUGUST MARTIN, pioneer French residents at Academie, Allen County. She was born at Academie March 20, 1871. She was married to FRANK J. LAURENT, July 10, 1894. In 1905 Mr. and Mrs. Laurent moved to Montpelier but returned to Fort Wayne in 1910 and lived here since.

AUGUST E. MARTIN, AGED 66, DIES OF HEART ATTACK AT DOWN TOWN OFFICE; WAS HEAD OF LAND COMPANY (Jan. 16, 1934)
AUGUST E. MARTIN, aged 66, real estate dealer with offices in the Guaranty Building, died of a heart attack at 1:45 p.m. today at his offices. He resided at 835 West Wayne Street.
Mr. Martin had been suffering from heart trouble for some time, according to his physician. He was head of the Martin Land Company and formerly was associated with Fitch & Sons, real estate firm. Mr. Martin was a native of Perry Township, Allen Co., Indiana.

ALEXANDER MARTIN IS TAKEN BY DEATH
AGED REALTOR SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK AT HOME AFTER A MONTH’S ILLNESS (Jan. 30, 1934)
ALEXANDER A. MARTIN, aged 77, who had been in the real estate business in Fort Wayne for the last 25 years, died of a heart attack Tuesday at 8 p.m. at his home, 612 East Wayne Street. He had been ill about a month.
Mr. Martin was the head of A. A. Martin & Company, real estate firm with offices in the Guaranty Building. He was a brother of AUGUST E. MARTIN head of the Martin Land Company who died at his office in the Guaranty Building January 16 of a heart attack.
A. A. Martin was born in Perry Township but had spent practically his entire life in this city. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Funeral Services were held today for NESTER LOUIS MARTIN, aged 68, who died Monday at his home, 520 Wagner Street. Services were held at the home with Dr. Charles H. Smith officiating. Burial was in Lindenwood Cemetery. Mr. Martin was a city fireman for 27 years until his retirement from the department in 1918.

HENRY J. MARTIN, aged 69, 1740 St. Joe Blvd., died at 1:15 a.m. today at his residence after an illness of a year of complications. He had been bedfast for the past two weeks. Mr. Martin was born in Perry Township, Allen County, and was a farmer until he retired in 1919, and moved to Fort Wayne.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Lafayette Legion here.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Rosary Society. The deceased was a daughter of the late LOUIS AND MARY PEPE, pioneer French settlers here. Her husband HENRY J. MARTIN died seven years ago.

DELPHIS MARTIN DIES IN PERRY TOWNSHIP
DELPHIS MARTIN, aged 87, a resident of this city, died at 2 o’clock this morning at the home of his son, GEORGE MARTIN in Perry Township. Mr. Martin was a retired farmer and owned farms in Cedar Creek and Perry townships. He was born in France in 1832 and came with his parents to this country in 1841 (or 1844)

MRS. CATHERINE (KRUGLER) MARTIN
MRS. CATHERINE MARTIN, wife of DELPHIN MARTIN, of 1315 Spy Run Avenue, died very suddenly yesterday morning at the family home. Death was due to heart trouble and while she had been ailing for some time, her condition was not regarded as serious until two months ago. A few minutes before her death, she was walking about the house.
Mrs. Martin was born in Germany and came to this country when 12 years of age, locating in Allen county on a farm in Perry township 2 years later. She was married to Mr. Martin April 26, 1864, and they lived on the farm until 1897 when they moved to this city. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last April. The deceased was a member of the Cathedral and of the Rosary society of that congregation and an active worker in the affairs of the church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 o’clock at the residence on Spy Run and at 9 o’clock at the Cathedral after which the body will be taken to the St. Vincent’s Catholic church where the funeral will be preached and where friends may view the remains.

JOSEPH C. MARTIN (May 1939)
JOSEPH C. MARTIN, 74, died of a heart attack at 7 a.m. today at his home on the Hursh Road in Cedar Creek Township after several weeks illness. He taught school in Perry Township for several years before becoming a farmer in Cedar Creek Township many years ago.
Mr. Martin was a lifelong resident of Allen County, and was a member of St. Vincent’s Catholic Church at Academie. His parents, the late MR. AND MRS. DELPHOS MARTIN were pioneer residents of this county. After attending Perry Township schools, Mr. Martin attended the former Fort Wayne (Methodist) College.

GEORGE C. MARTIN, 68, former trustee of Perry Township, died Thursday evening at 10:30 o’clock at his home on R.R. 2, Auburn Road, Fort Wayne, after an illness of about 2 weeks of heart disease. Mr. Martin was a member of St. Vincent’s Catholic church and of the Holy Name society.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the residence and at 10 o’clock at St. Vincent’s Catholic church, Rev. Edward Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body has been removed to the residence from D. O. McComb & Sons funeral home. The Holy Name society will meet tonight at 8 o’clock for recitation of the rosary.

DEATH CALLS PIONEER NEBRASKA LADY ON THE COAST ………. Dated June 2, 1924
MRS. LUCY J. MARTIN passes away at San Jose, after an illness of some duration.
Another of the old time residents of Cass county who represents the fast disappearing ranks of the pioneers of the great west, was called to her last reward when MRS. LUCY J. MARTIN passed away Thursday night at 11:30 at her home in San Jose, California, at the age of 84 years.
For some years past, Mrs. Martin has been living on the west coast where the milder climate was more suitable for her health and there she has, up to a short time ago, been enjoying excellent health, but of late she has felt very much the burdens of her years and been gradually failing until she gently fell asleep in the rest that knows no awakening.
The deceased lady was a native of Montier, Canton Berne, Switzerland, where she was born January 12, 1839. Her maiden name was LUCY J. PANGUARD and when a young child, her parents with their little family, prepared to leave their native land for the new world and sailing from LAHarve, France, they found in the course of a few weeks that they were in the new land of America. The little family located in the state of Indiana, where in 1851, the father died and left the care of the family on the mother.
Here it was that LUCY PANGUARD was reared to womanhood and on May 3, 1857, at Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was united in marriage to C. J. MARTIN, a young man who had also a few years previous come to America from his native land of France to dwell in the land of the free.
In the fall of 1857, Mr. and Mrs. Martin came west to Nebraska and located in the vicinity of Plattsmouth, where Mr. Martin engaged in farming and continued in active work on the farm until 1885 when the family removed to Plattsmouth to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Martin continued to make their home here until 1906, when they moved to California, where the husband and father was called to his reward.

At the time of her death, MRS. A. H. DUXBURY, a granddaughter, was visiting at San Jose and was able to spend the last days with the aged grandmother. Mrs. Martin was the last of the original charter members of the First Presbyterian Church of this city.

MARTIN FUNERAL ON WEDNESDAY AT PLATTSMOUTH
Funeral for WALTER NELSON MARTIN, 53, of Plattsmouth was Wednesday afternoon at the Sattler Funeral Chapel in Plattsmouth. The Rt. Rev. Joseph Tupy officiated. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Plattsmouth (burial was June 18)
Mr. Martin died at an Omaha hospital, January 15 (1956). Music for the service was by Miss Coretta Pfann.
Bearers were FRANK SEDLAK, EDWARD EGENBERGER, TOM GRADOVILLE SR., LEO BINTNER and TOM GRADOVILLE, JR.
Mr. Martin was born on November 5, 1902, at Plattsmouth, the son of CHARLES L. and LOUETTA NELSON MARTIN. He was married Sept. 23, 1922, at the Holy Rosary Church in Plattsmouth to MADELINE SEDLAK. She survives him.

Funeral services for MADELINE FRANCES MARTIN were held at Holy Rosary Church Friday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Walter Banach officiating. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery here. Pallbearers were EDWARD EGENBERGER, HENRY KAFFENBERGER, RICHARD BINTNER, IRVIN SCHROEDER, HENRY HOBSCHEIDT and LOUIS SWOBODA.
Visiting hours at Sattler-Fusselman-Perry Funeral Home were Thursday afternoon and evening with Rosary in the evening.
Mrs. Martin was born in Czechoslovakia, April 13, 1900, a daughter of JOSEPH and MARY SEDLAK. She came to Plattsmouth in 1902 and was married to WALTER MARTIN, Sept. 24, 1923, in Plattsmouth. They lived and farmed south of Plattsmouth on the home place until moving to Plattsmouth in 1947.
Her husband preceded her in death January 15, 1956. She is survived by

FRANK SEDLAK, of Sedalia, MO
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Martin was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Altar Society. She was employed for 26 years at Offut Air Force Base as cafeteria manager. She died August 3, at her home here.

MRS. CREAMER RITES ARE HELD SATURDAY
Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Caldwell Funeral home for MRS. MAE MARTIN CREAMER, 72, former Plattsmouth resident, who died Wednesday in an Omaha hospital. (Aug. 14, 1946)
Rev. Virgil G. Anderson of St. Paul’s Methodist church in Lincoln officiated at the services. Burial was in Horning cemetery. Frank Cloid sang “Wonderful Peace” and “In the Seet Bye and Bye” accompanied by E. H. Wescott.
Pallbearers were DAVE RUTHERFORD, HARLEY CECIL, EDWARD EGENBERGER, STEPHEN DEVOE, WILLIAM METZGER AND CHARLES MARTIN.
