BALLOU FAMILY
The Belleaus were the original owners of property on Old Auburn Road. The farm is located at the I 69 overchange on Hursh Road. You can see the small lake mentioned in an article by Albert C. J. Ellett as follows:
“The Belleaus live here. French people. We don’t see too much of them; they are in another threshing ring. Neither the French nor the threshing ring interested me. I had seen either a nice big pond or a small lake back of the barn. I hoped there would be one at our new home.”
The above information says that the Ballous were French. From the Ancestral File of the Latter Day Saints website, Family Search, we find a pedigree which carries this family back to England. Just look under JAMES BALLOU to find several generations of this family. We cannot be sure that this is the correct lineage, but is a good place to start your search. The name as noted in the cemetery records below show the name spelled BALLOU. Would welcome any information from members of this family.
