Obit for ELMER GUMP PEPPLE:

Pepple Elmer G, 77, resident of Swan Twp all his life, died Monday in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Fort Wayne. He lived five miles northeast of Churubusco. He at one time taught school in Swan Twp and in Perry Twp, Allen County. He was a minister in Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren for more than forty years. Surviving are the widow, Nellie; six sons, Arlo and Lloyd, LaOtto, Rev. Russell Pepple, Chicago, Lincoln, Corunna, Glen, Avilla, and Paul, at home; six daughters, Miss Sarah Pepple, Fort Wayne; Miss Ruth Pepple, at home, Mrs. Lucile Barnhart, Churubusco, Mrs. Mary Stauffer, Plymouth, Mrs. Catherine Clingenpeel, Yoder, and Miss Marjorie Pepple, New Windsor, Md.; two brothers, Chester, Garrett, and Jerry, Goshen; two sisters, Mrs. Dannie Kaiser, Edon, Ohio, and Mrs. Francis Hogue, Garrett; twenty-three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were Thursday in the Pleasant Hill Church. Burial, Fairview Cemetery. ~ 9-23-1954

Pepple Sarah A, 84, of rural LaOtto, died Dec. 4, in Byron Health Center, Fort Wayne. She was born June 19, 1912 in Noble County to Elmer and Nellie (Bosler) Pepple She was a 1931 graduate of LaOtto High School and spent her entire life in Noble County. She was employed as a housekeeper for St. Joseph Medical Center and was a member of Agape Church of the Brethren. Surviving are 3 sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Lucile) Barnhart of Churubusco, Mrs. Leon (Catherine) Clingenpeel of Avilla, and Mrs. Fred (Marjorie) Scroggs of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral was Saturday in Agape Church of the Brethren. Burial, Fairview Cemetery. ~ 12-12-1996

CHESTER W. PEPPLE DIED AT GARRETT AT AGE OF 80 YEARS

Chester W. Pepple, 80, a retired roofing and siding contractor, died Tuesday at 2:10 p.m. at his home, 105 South Hamsher street, Garrett. He had been ill since Sept. 15 and a heart condition caused his death.

The body is at the McKee funeral home in Garrett where it will remain until noon Friday when it will be taken to the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren, southwest of Garrett, for rites at 2 p.m. The Rev. Glenn Millugan will officiate and burial will follow in Fairview cemetery, north of Huntertown. A preferred form of remembrance is a donation to a favorite charity. Mr. Pepple was a deacon of the church.

Mr. Pepple was born Nov 18, 1881, west of LaOtto in Noble County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pepple. He was married Feb. 24, 1909, in Allen County to Sylvia Bosler and they moved to Garrett 34 years ago.

Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. John Smith of Wolf lake and Mrs. Don Golden of Goshen; two sons, Kenneth Pepple of 810 South Franklin Street, Garrett, and George Pepple of 747 West 9th street, Auburn; a brother, Jerry Pepple of Sebring, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. May (sic) Kaiser of Eden, O.; and Mrs. Fancis Hogue of Rt. 1, LaOtto; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-granchildren

Pepple Kenneth Albert, 65, Garrett, died Oct. 29 in VA Hospital in Indianapolis. A resident of Garrett since 1939, he was born April 21, 1920 in Noble County to Chester W. and Sylvia (Bosler) Pepple. A retired truck driver and veteran of WW II, he was a life member of the VFW Post in Garrett and a member of Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Pauline) Capehart, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Jerry (Joyce) Hogge, Cree Lake, Kendallville; one brother, George A., Auburn; one sister, Martha Golden of Kimmell; and two grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Ethel Smith, Hilda Bailey and Lois Harland. Services were Saturday in McKee-Miles Funeral Home, Garrett. Burial, Fairview Cemetery
